Job Description: UNIX Systems Administrator

The Global Low Latency UNIX Support Team is searching for you to be proficient within a Linux (SLES, RHEL) environment. You will have experience within systems administration, along with knowledge of physical infrastructure and hardware such as HP ProLiant DL380/580 G7/8/9). You will provide dedicated UNIX support for Global Low Latency UNIX estate of 2300+ servers installed in 30+ global Exchanges Colocation sites and Core Data Centers. We are looking for a good communicator and a problem solver. Responsibility will also include covering all stages of hardware lifecycle & product ionization - Planning, Deployment, Activation, Vendor Management. Providing support to multiple application platforms across different business lines, such as FX, Market Data, RATES, Equity Cash, Equity Autobahn Trading, Equity Dark Pool, Commodities, Derivatives, Algo Trading, etc...

Job Requirements:

· Experience with either Linux (SLES or RHEL) and Unix (Solaris)

· Experience with systems administration: upgrades, patching and configuration management, performance management, troubleshooting, analysis and capacity planning

· Knowledge of advanced Linux Kernel tuning and optimization, systems performance hierarchy principles, latency and jitter reducing enhancements, BIOS configurations and tunings, Low Latency & Throughput, Linux real-time kernel, kernel bypass (such as VMA, OOL), FIFO, RR processing

· Experience with Low Latency technologies: Server hardware, CPU technology, IO subsystem, Fabric Switches, InfiniBand, and various Ethernet Hardware

· Strong skills in TCP/IP Networking & advanced systems tuning, network topology and firewalled environments

· Full understanding the principles of routing, client/server programming, the design of consistent network-wide file system layout, Ethernet, bonding, PCIe Technologies

· Knowledge and strong working experience with various protocols & services: NFS, NIS, DNS, DHCP, IP, TCP, UDP, IGMP, FTP, TFTP, NTP, SSH

· Experience installing layered products in a timely fashion, analyzing & troubleshooting complex systems and familiarity with ITSM procedures

· Skill set of different storage technologies

· Experience in Perl and Shell scripting writing scripts to automate various tasks

· Strong problem solving skills with ability to work in a highly pressurized multitask environment

UNIX Systems Administrator Responsibilities:

· Provide dedicated support to all ‘Change the Bank’ and ‘Run the Bank’ activities for Global Low Latency Unix infrastructure

· Advanced system tunings to application specific requirements. Systems standardization and automation

· Perform latency specific tuning. Some of the strategies that are used include: CPU isolation, using real-time threads, using interrupt affinity, modifying NIC send/receive buffers, etc

· Making Low Latency Unix environment to be compliant with the technology roadmap, such as OS & hardware upgrades, 3rd party software upgrades, etc

· Rapid response to incidents

· Working closely with UNIX engineering and third party vendor to explore new technologies for Ultra Low Latency

· Design, test and validate new RPMs as per engineering releases for application that seeks for Ultra Low Latency

· Work with project delivery team on various projects for ULL infrastructure.

· Interface with IT and business clients at all levels of the organization

· Perform standard OS Upgrades for ULL estate

· Follow the sun model (including weekend support): Global ULL Unix team provides round the clock coverage

· Some out of hours and weekend work will be required to comply with applicable change windows
