Regulation, Compliance and Anti-Financial Crime (AFC). They manage the Bank's risks and help to avoid unintentional rule breaches and conflicts of interest. At the same time, they also advise us on ethical conduct and governance issues and keep our organisation up-to-date on regulatory and political challenges.

Department

The client is committed to the highest standards of control in the areas of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions & Embargoes, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) and Anti-Fraud (collectively referred to as Anti-Financial Crime). The Management and all employees are required to adhere to these standards to protect our reputation from those who may intend to use our products and services for illegal purposes including, but not necessarily limited to, money laundering, bribery, corruption, fraud and/or Terrorist Financing (CTF) purposes.

AFC serves to ensure the client acts with integrity and discipline with regard to the legal and regulatory requirements of the AML regime. One of its objectives is the reduction of financial crime as a result of being used for money laundering or terrorist financing and having sufficient systems and controls to prevent this.

Overview

The AML Department has expanded to encompass all of Financial Crime and now includes AML, OFAC/Sanctions, Fraud, and ABC. The AFC Department's Risk & Controls team for the Americas region is responsible for the following activities across the U.S. and the wider Americas region:

  • Lead and oversee the Financial Crime Risk Assessments.
  • Implement and coordinate the division's global controls testing program.
  • Develop and implement the AFC Risk Appetite Statement ("RAS").
  • This position will report to and support the U.S. AFC Risk Assessments Team Lead to strengthen and align the BSA/AML and Sanctions risk assessment practices across the bank. The position will also support the design of strategies to strengthen controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination, design and enhancement of the annual BSA/AML and Sanctions risk assessments and targeted AML reviews based on current risks.
  • Support the development of a BSA/AML and Sanctions risk assessment methodology leveraging best practices.
  • Support special projects including conducting targeted reviews of AML high risk product and business areas.
  • Act as a designated contact with business partners and technology to ensure expectations of the risk assessments are met.
  • Assist in the preparation of updates and presentations to senior management and other stakeholders including the various Boards
  • Support the AFC Global Assurance Program and U.S. AFC Compliance Testing Program, as needed

Qualifications and Required experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree, post-graduate a plus.
  • 3-5 years' experience in AML/BSA compliance with a minimum of two in risk assessment strongly desired.
  • Experience in the financial service industry and in analyzing risk and best practices.
  • An understanding of the AML functions responsibilities and of risk assessment processes and risk principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • Project management and leadership skills.
