Overview

The purpose of the AML Financial Crime Analytics & Intelligence team is to ensure that the systems it is tasked with surveilling are at all times being used in accordance with the legal and regulatory Anti-Money Laundering framework within the Americas and to escalate issues of concern to AML Management in a timely manner. This includes the manual escalations from multiple areas such as the Business Intelligence Unit (BIU), Anti-Bribery & Corruption Team (ABC), Business Line AML, and any Unusual Activity Reports.

Reporting to the Head of AML Tuning & Optimization (Americas), the Analyst/Associate of Transaction Monitoring Tuning & Optimization will be responsible for the on-going tuning and optimization of models used for detecting financial crime activity across the Bank. You will be responsible for the development, deployment, and support of these models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for technical and functional soundness of AML models and tools and to provide effective challenge to the AML model life cycle area.
  • Maintain standards for segmentation methodology, scenario tuning methodology, peer grouping, BTL (below the Line) sampling methodology.
  • Work with compliance to define specifications for transaction monitoring models.
  • Implement risk-based alert scoring.
  • Support all review and audit functions; create a model inventory list and support periodic model reviews.
  • Partner with AFC technology and support on-going activities for various AML TM related projects.
  • Address and resolve logic and configuration issues in monitoring scenarios.
  • Assess current and future state of surveillance, platform, policies, and procedures to promote continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, MIS, Information Management, or Statistics.
  • Strong analytical skills with an investigative mind-set.
  • Programming proficiency in SQL, R, Python.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate issues to Senior Management in a timely and effective manner.
  • Should be able to interpret complex requirements and be a self-starter.
