Essential Job Functions:

  • Install Outside Plant (OSP) facilities according to work orders or services orders in compliance with RUS and NEC standards.
  • Work within construction area to company standards.
  • Install and maintain copper and fiber optic cable and CATV distribution systems.
  • Perform fiber splicing to Industry standards.
  • Locate buried copper and fiber optic facilities.
  • Perform routine Installation/maintenance and repair on OSP facilities, buried cable, pedestals, hand holes, etc.
  • Install and maintain network interface devices (NID) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT).
  • Ensure OSP facilities are maintained to telecom industry standards.
  • Ability to navigate and interpret standard CATV/ telecommunication prints and mapping.
  • Meet documentation accuracy and timeframe standards for closing work orders, cable rearrangements, inventory audits, and timesheets.
  • Perform basic maintenance on equipment on a daily basis to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Telecom network installation and maintenance experience are preferred.
  • Buried cable locating experience is a plus
  • Ability to hold a valid New York State Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of copper and fiber optic cable installation and maintenance.
  • Requires familiarity with RUS outside plant practices and standards.
  • Willingness and ability to become Bucket/Lift certified.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors at extreme heights, climates, and temperatures.
