Essential Job Functions:
- Install Outside Plant (OSP) facilities according to work orders or services orders in compliance with RUS and NEC standards.
- Work within construction area to company standards.
- Install and maintain copper and fiber optic cable and CATV distribution systems.
- Perform fiber splicing to Industry standards.
- Locate buried copper and fiber optic facilities.
- Perform routine Installation/maintenance and repair on OSP facilities, buried cable, pedestals, hand holes, etc.
- Install and maintain network interface devices (NID) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT).
- Ensure OSP facilities are maintained to telecom industry standards.
- Ability to navigate and interpret standard CATV/ telecommunication prints and mapping.
- Meet documentation accuracy and timeframe standards for closing work orders, cable rearrangements, inventory audits, and timesheets.
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment on a daily basis to ensure proper operation and safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Telecom network installation and maintenance experience are preferred.
- Buried cable locating experience is a plus
- Ability to hold a valid New York State Driver’s License
- Knowledge of copper and fiber optic cable installation and maintenance.
- Requires familiarity with RUS outside plant practices and standards.
- Willingness and ability to become Bucket/Lift certified.
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors at extreme heights, climates, and temperatures.
