Network Engineer

You will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security. Qualified systems engineers will have a background in IT, network systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.

Managed Services Network Engineer will be experienced supporting diverse networks while providing excellent customer service. Responsible for providing proactive and reactive services to new and existing Managed Services customers in support of their IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on configuration and administration of network devices, including Cisco switches and routers, wireless access points and controllers.
• Experience with network monitoring and management tools such as Auvik.
• Experience with EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP routing design, troubleshooting and support
• Design, troubleshoot and support of layer 2 switched networks, including considerations for Ethernet and fiber based port channel configurations, spanning tree considerations for redundancy and failover, and VLAN trunk protocol (VTP).
• Site-to-site VPN tunnel configuration and support
• Know the client’s contract and SLAs (Service Level Agreement) and perform to those SLAs
• Facilitate root cause analyses of recurring problems
• Develop and document SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) and process workflows specific for the client
• Provide action items and next steps for backup solutions projects.
• Identify and manage support issues, coordinate communications between various Company operations groups and OEM’s to resolve complex issues.
• Create and update documentation for procedures, solutions, licensing and applicable project artifacts.
• Provide periodic, informal, on-site/off-site knowledge transfer tother group members and to designated Company employees covering the management, normal operation, and maintenance of the network infrastructure.
• SLA adherence and attainment.
• Apply patches and firmware upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computing, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience:

• 4-7 years preferred
• Understanding of MSP (Managed Service Provider) industry
• Experience with Cisco ASA, Fortinet, and Palo Alto firewalls
• Understanding of methods and requirements for connections in to cloud hosted environments, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Services (OCS)
• Experience working with telecom providers for enterprise level internet and private WAN solutions

Certifications:

• CCNA with progress toward CCNP (at least one Cisco professional-level exam passed)
