OBJECTIVE:

A position where more than 20 years experience as a Senior Unix Systems Administrator (Solaris, LINUX, HP-UX, and AIX) will contribute and allow me to learn new skills to help my employer achieve their business objectives.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Building/configuration of kickstart/jumpstart/ignite/nim servers to facilitate building client machines
• Hardening of *NIX servers and clients against outside attacks (ssh, tcpwrappers, IPtables, authorized keys (RSA/DSA), removal of R-commands/telnet)
• Kernel performance optimization (Solaris/LINUX) for Oracle server needs
• Build/configure/maintain Checkpoint firewalls (IPSO, patching, rulesets)
• Building/configuration/maintenance of RedHat EL (3/4/5) servers, as well as SUN 52xx, M4000, M6000, RX3600 RP3440.
• Use Solaris Disk Suites to mirror system drives in jumpstart build
• Logical Volume Manager
• Administration of DNS Master and slave servers for 100+ clients (bind 8 & 9)
• Built and configured Amanda to utilized autoloaders for backing up *NIX and PC clients on network(s) (using combination of ntbackup and samba)
• Built/configured/maintained NAS (1TB), using 10 tape autoloader to facilitate backups using Amanda
• Administration of AFS servers, for maintenance of user dataspace and accounts.
• Administration of Kerberos for user authentication and tying into Active Directory for PC accounts (one account login)
• Make hardware/software purchase recommendations to Dept. heads as needed (3 yr. hardware life-cycle for budget planning)
• Build/configure/maintain NFS, AFS, DNS, Sendmail, NIS (server/client), Apache
