  • Responsibilities include responding to critical care situations on general floors, emergency department and trauma room, intensive care unit, and high risk deliveries in obstetrics. Critical member of the cardiac arrest team for the hospital, responding to all cardio-pulmonary arrests in adults, pediatrics, and neonates.
  • Skilled in X-ray interpretation, patient assessments, arterial blood gas analysis, and bronchopulmonary hygiene techniques Skilled in radial, brachial, and femoral artery blood gas punctures and analysis. Can also obtain capillary gases, umbilical cord blood gases, and venous blood gas samples. Insertion of arterial lines, assisting with chest tubes, cough assist, administering aerosol drugs, and current oxygen therapy techniques to patients with high flow and low flow devices, and humidity therapy. Responsible for monitoring critical care patients on transports within the hospital. Also responsible for transporting critical patients requiring mechanical ventilation externally via ambulance, airplane, and helicopter within the province of Newfoundland.   • I am certified in administering propofol for procedural sedation in the endoscopy department, intensive care unit, and emergency department. This includes monitoring vital signs, capnography, and managing airways, during procedures and in the recovery room. I also administer sedation and monitor patients in the operating room for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures. Trained to assist physicians with bronchoscopies and cardioversions, to monitor patients and control sedation during these procedures.
  • Trained to assist in neonatal high-risk deliveries and resuscitation. Providing oxygen therapy to neonatal and pediatric patients. Responsible for intubating, monitoring and maintaining intubated neonates and pediatric patients.
  • Responsible for performing Pulmonary Function testing to ATS standards to patients with chronic lung disease, as well as in children who visit for an Asthma Clinic. Teaching patients to set up sleep recorders, and downloading data.
