Project Overview:

WellPoint Group System (WGS) is the pivotal IT application, which supports the large Group business of Blue Cross of California. The WGS 2.0 Membership System is part of the WGS 2.0 Family of Systems and is responsible for the Enrollment Activities related to our Members and Clients. It provides other Members of the WGS Family with eligibility and member demographic data. The WGS Membership System also provides this information to systems outside the WGS Family, as well as to Vendors and Clients.

WGS 2.0 Membership system processes membership enrollments. The system uses batch processing to maintain and create extracts and reports of the membership details. The role-based access to the system is defined by business based on the Profiles for the user roles. These profiles define the screens that will be displayed as available to that role (system navigation), which in turn limits the role to specific functionality that is supported through these screens. The Navigation Databases contain the configuration information for each Profile, defining the menus, screens, screen modes (inquiry vs. Update) and PF keys that represent the system functionality that the role can access. Roles are defined for different areas of responsibility and only those users with the defined role can access the functions required for their job description. This allows controls to be set at different levels within the profile roles.

WGS 2.0 Membership focuses on Case installation, Group/Product Setup, Enrollment of members through various sources such as Group Tape, Web interface and online member enrollment, storage and maintenance of member information and the downstream processes. The membership data is referred during claim processing, Billing etc.

Waybill can be received from customers through EDI / TDCC Transmissions or Shipping Instructions entered in ShipCSX. The ACT platform is the Hanover’s policy management system for Commercial Package Policies (CPP). Calligo, an in systems product, is currently used to generate Policy Output PDF in conjunction with the ACT Platform.

Calligo to Dialogue Conversion project involves the replacement of the Calligo document generation product with Dialogue. Extreme Dialogue, a Hewlett Packard product, is the enterprise output platform for Hanover. The project aims to replace the internal Calligo system with Dialogue. Dialogue system comprised of two web services i.e. PPDS for generation of XML and EWS for generation of output PDF with Dialogue tool. PPDS fetches data from Oracle database and EWS takes XML as input and produce Output as PDF.

  • Passing input parameters (Policy ID& Transaction ID) to the WSDL service endpoint through SOAP UI for XML generation
  • Request XML to be edited by removing all name spaces (ns2, ns3, ns4 and ns5) for XSD
  • Header and footer of request XML to be changed
  • Edited XML to be passed to Extreme Wrapper Service to get Dialogue Output PDF
  • EWS service will parse the given XML and will display PDF with the forms available in XML
  • Generated(Dialogue) PDF will be compared with Existing system PDF for any defects
  • If any variance found in Generated(Dialogue) PDF and existing PDF, then Database to be verified whether XML properly fetching data from database or not
