Seeking a Senior Purchasing Manager for a 100% Remote position in the Diagnostics industry.

The primary responsibility of the Purchasing Manager is to manage and coordinate activities of buyers and support staff engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies. They are the primary resource, subject expert, trainer and process owner of purchasing processes and the ERP Purchasing system. This includes contributing to vendor relationships, pricing and contract negotiations, and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day to day buyer team issues and act as initial escalation point for purchasing issues
  • Establishes purchasing policies and procedures and directs purchasing programs accordingly.
  • Prepares and assigns purchase orders and change notices to buyers.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing Director to negotiate and award supplier contracts with a holistic approach which includes service, quality, sustainability, terms and price
  • Serve as the first point of contact for supply issues, understanding the issue in detail and proactively providing potential solutions and internal and/or external corrective actions
  • Ensure successful implementation of supplier contracts, collaborate with suppliers to ensure seamless material flow and drive continuous improvement of cost, quality and service
  • Develop strong supplier relationships and working knowledge of supplier’s processes
  • Develop collaborative relationships with supplier partners to champion strategic change
  • Evaluate and improve on processes and systems for effective and efficient purchasing
  • Hires, trains new staff members, and supervises and evaluates job performance of purchasing department personnel.
  • Develop and agree on annual cost savings targets
  • Measure and monitor performance and capabilities of vendors to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, and price commitments.
  • Work with suppliers to convey long term forecasts
  • Develop and manage Economic Order Quantities (EOQ) for consumables and raw materials
  • Consolidate lab demand and lead bulk purchases to ensure buying power is maintained
  • Work cross functionally to reduce expenses and improve efficiencies – challenge “status quo”
  • May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Proven ability to lead internal and external stakeholders indirectly to achieve cost, service quality, and time to market commitments
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to form and articulate valid conclusions
  • Ability to quickly derive data-driven insights and make decisions based on those insights
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain and Manufacturing efficiencies
  • Ability to communicate and interface proficiently on computer, phone, and in person to work cross functionally within multiple departments
  • Ability to work independently with directional supervision
  • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to influence and be persuasive
  • Aptitude for understanding manufacturing and laboratory needs
  • Advanced organization skills and excellent follow-up skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to perform under deadlines and constraints
  • Successful in managing change through all levels of the organization
  • Intermediate proficiency with ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; APICS certification a plus

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Supply Chain or Finance or equivalent background
  • Eight+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, risk mitigation, contract management, negotiation and relationship management.
  • Must have international vendor experience
